The Media Equation

The latest book in the series of "a book of week until the end of time" is The Media Equation. The premise of this book revolves around the idea that humans and media interact in the same manner as a human would interact with another human. The authors brought up a lot of interesting points such as politeness, image size, image detail, tone of voice, intensity of voice, and many others.

I personally found the book to be uninteresting. The method in which the others presented their points was very cut and dry. It went along the lines of, "We suspected that the results would be this and guess what... they were." There were a lot of questions about the methods of their experiments that I would have been interested to know about but they merely left out the details. To their credit, though, all of their methods were probably included in their research. However, even a casual reader may want some insight on how they got to their results.

  2. You post the truth sir, their writings on their experiments sucked. I would have liked it to be a little less like 2 year olds were writing about doing a science project.

  3. Ya I completely agree with it being "cut and dry". It felt pretty repetitive the way they explained each experiment. I would have liked to know the methods of the experiment as well...but too lazy to read their actual published research.
